Ten thousand euros per month. It is the first psychological and financial threshold most independent consultants set as an objective. A threshold meaning: I can live comfortably from my practice, I have proven my model works, and I can consider scaling. Many dream it, few reach it within the timeframe they set. Not because it is impossible — but because they have no structured plan. Here is that plan.

90 days is a realistic timeframe to go from 0 to 10k/month — if you already have a defined positioning, if you have at least 2 to 3 previous or current clients, and if you are ready to invest 2 hours per day in commercial development. This is not a miracle plan — it is a structured, methodical work plan.

Foundations: what must be in place before starting

Before applying this plan, verify these 3 foundations are in place. Without them, the plan cannot work:

Month 1: Build the pipeline

The first month's goal is simple and non-negotiable: have 15 to 20 qualified conversations in progress. Not necessarily signed clients — conversations in progress with prospects matching your ICP.

In parallel, publish 4 LinkedIn posts per week with content targeted at your ICP's problems. These posts generate organic visibility complementing direct prospecting.

Month 2: Convert and sign

The second month is for calls and signatures. You conduct calls booked in month 1 and continue parallel prospecting.

If calls are not converting as expected, do not change your rate — analyze and improve your call script. The first reason for non-conversion is almost never the price.

Month 3: Consolidate and optimize

The third month, you deliver for your first clients while continuing to prospect. The goal is to reach 10k this month AND create the first social proof facilitating subsequent sales.

Accelerators: what makes the difference

Some consultants reach 10k in 60 days, others in 120 days. The factors making the difference:

90 days of disciplined prospecting and excellent delivery are enough to reach 10k/month if positioning is clear, the rate is defensible, and execution is consistent. It is not a mystery — it is mechanics.

The 90-day plan is not a result promise — it is an execution framework. Consultants who have followed it completely report results between 6000€ and 15000€ in revenue in the third month. The variance is explained by initial positioning quality, network seniority, and call execution quality. The foundations you lay in these 90 days define your trajectory for the next 2 years.

Beyond 10k: laying scale foundations

The 90-day plan is designed to reach 10k/month — not to stay there. Once you reach this first plateau consistently for 2 to 3 consecutive months, it is the signal to invest in systems allowing movement toward 15k, 20k, and beyond without proportionally multiplying your time.

The 3 priority investments after 10k/month: a structured CRM to manage the growing commercial pipeline, a first digitalized product (training or resource) to start generating non-linear revenue, and a semi-automated content system to maintain LinkedIn presence without spending 2 hours there daily. These 3 investments, made in this order, constitute the foundations for passing to the next level.

The Trap of Accepting Any Prospect: A Consultant's Pitfall Taking on any prospective client is a consultant's trap. Being selective about your clients is crucial to your long-term success and well-being. Here's why accepting every prospect can be problematic: **Time and Resource Drain** Every client requires time, energy, and resources. Accepting unsuitable prospects stretches your capacity and prevents you from focusing on ideal clients who value your expertise. **Misaligned Expectations** Clients who don't fit your profile often have different expectations and working styles. This mismatch leads to frustration, communication difficulties, and ultimately dissatisfied clients. **Impact on Your Reputation** Working with the wrong clients increases the risk of failed projects and poor testimonials. Your reputation suffers when you take on engagements you're not equipped to handle successfully. **Lower Profitability** Not all prospects generate equal revenue. Some require excessive hand-holding or scope creep, reducing your profit margins while demanding disproportionate effort. **Consultant Burnout** Constantly managing difficult client relationships drains your motivation and enthusiasm. This affects the quality of work you deliver to your best clients. **The Solution** Define your ideal client profile clearly. Be selective and strategic about which opportunities to pursue. Quality relationships with well-matched clients are far more valuable than a large number of problematic ones.
