You've probably heard it: content is king. So you publish. Twice a week, maybe more. Well-written articles, polished videos, a personal brand that shines.

But your qualified calls remain rare. And when they do come, it's often misaligned prospects who don't even know why they contacted you.

The problem isn't that you're not publishing enough. It's that you're confusing personal brand with value proposition.

Your story (who you are, your background, your values) matters for credibility. But it doesn't sell anything. What sells is the answer to this question: "How do you solve my specific problem?"

Look: a prospect searches "how to find coaching clients" on Google. They click your article. And they find a beautiful story about your consulting journey, your 10 years of experience, your philosophy.

But nowhere do you say: "Here are the 3 reasons why you're not finding clients, and here's how to fix them in 30 days."

Result: they leave. They go back to Google. Someone else answered their real problem.

Aligned content = content that converts

Content that converts isn't centred on you. It's centred on the prospect's problem, and it shows how you solve it.

Here's the structure: Problem → Hidden reason → Simple solution → Next step.

Concrete example. Instead of "How I found my first 20 consulting clients", write "Why you're finding 0 clients and how to fix it in 2 weeks."

In the first case: your story. In the second: their problem, then their solution.

The second brings 5× more leads because it answers the prospect's actual search. And it positions them facing a decision: either they apply it, or they ask for help. Both serve you.

Marketing content vs. conversion content

Two types of content exist. The first strengthens your brand, builds trust, shows your expertise. The second brings qualified leads.

You need to do both, but not in the same ratio. If you're at 0–5,000 € per month, you need 70% conversion, 30% brand.

Conversion = articles on specific problems your target faces ("How to qualify a prospect before the call", "Why your offer isn't selling", "3 reasons why you're losing margin").

Brand = your insights, your stories, your values (important, but secondary when you need cash).

Most coaches and consultants at your stage do the opposite. They publish 80% brand, 20% conversion. And they wonder why it doesn't work.

How to test starting tomorrow

Take your next article or video. Before publishing, ask yourself this: "Will a prospect with this problem find the clear answer in 2 minutes?"

If the answer is no, rewrite. Cut your story. Put the problem in the headline. Explain why it happens. Give the solution. Propose the next step (call, community, resource).

Do this on 3 articles. Measure clicks, shares, messages received. Compare with your old content.

You'll see the difference immediately.

Your marketing content isn't bringing clients because it's not aligned with why they buy. Reverse that, and you'll double your qualified leads in 60 days.

FAQ

But I still need to build my personal brand, right?

Yes, but second. At 0–5,000 € per month, you need cash first, credibility second. Once you have 10 clients and 50k€ in revenue, you can do 50/50. Before that, conversion content comes first.

How do I know if my content is aligned with the prospect's problem?

Simulate the experience. Search your target + their problem on Google. Read the top 3 results. Does your article answer more clearly and faster? If not, you're not competing.

Does that mean I should stop talking about myself?

No. Integrate yourself as proof, not as subject. "I've helped 50 coaches double their leads" is proof. "Here's how I started" is a story. The first converts, the second doesn't.
