A leadership coach moves her business forward by blocking one fixed hour every week to steer it: looking at where enquiries come from, choosing a single priority and placing it in the calendar. Without that appointment, sessions, messages and admin fill everything, and nothing changes from month to month.
Why your business stalls while you work hard

Steering your business means stepping back at regular intervals to decide where your energy goes next week, instead of reacting to whatever arrives. It is exactly what you teach your manager clients: leave the day-to-day to look at the direction.
Yet in your own business, the day-to-day wins. You prepare sessions, answer messages, chase a payment, post when you have a moment. Your days are full, yet at the end of the month you have no more enquiries than before. The problem is not effort. It is the lack of a moment where you decide. Without a decision, you do what shouts loudest, rarely what matters most.
What happens in your leadership coach steering hour
Choose a fixed slot, always the same, such as Monday morning before your first session, and protect it like a client meeting. Then follow the same sequence:
- First quarter hour, the facts: new conversations, discovery calls, signatures, and where those people came from. Note it all on one page, week after week.
- Second quarter hour, what works: a source that brings genuinely relevant people deserves more attention; an activity that eats hours for nothing should be reduced.
- Third quarter hour, ONE priority: rewrite your offer page opening, reach out to three former clients, prepare this month's workshop. Just one.
- Last quarter hour, the calendar: block the exact slot where you will do it. A priority without a slot stays an intention.
What the weekly appointment changes over time
Its strength comes from repetition. Every week the same appointment returns and decisions add up. After a few months you know where clients come from, you have dropped pointless activities and you have moved projects you had postponed since launch. You also enjoy your weeks more: with the priority set, you can give yourself fully to sessions without guilt.
Traps to avoid
Do not turn the hour into admin time; invoices have their own slot. Do not pick five priorities. Do not skip the appointment when the week is busy, because that is when it matters most. And do not change direction every week: give a decision time to work. You already help clients gain perspective in their leadership roles; apply the same standard to your own practice. If you want to set your indicators and first priority together, book a call.
