# How to Prep a Coaching Session With AI Without Losing Your Voice
*Reading time : 4 min · Website, AI & tools · 2026-06-05*
**In short :** L'IA peut préparer ta séance de coaching sans écrire à ta place : la méthode pour gagner du temps et garder ta façon unique d'accompagner.

## How this article unfolds

1. Gather everything per client — Messages, post-session impressions and starting goals kept in one place.
2. One instruction, written once — It asks the AI to sort what moves and what resists, never to suggest wording.
3. Edit the draft — The coach strikes what rings false and adds what she sensed in the room.
4. Opening question by hand — One question in the coach's own words: the signature of her practice.

Preparing a session with AI means handing it the sorting and the re-reading, never the relationship. You give it your client's journey, it hands back a clear thread. You keep the questions, the tone and the intuition. You save time without turning into someone else.

## Why does session prep take so long?

Session prep is when you look back at what happened, spot the common thread and decide where to begin next time. With three clients, it all fits in your head. With more, the stories start to blur: who mentioned her sister, who wanted to change jobs, who cried at the end of the last session.

So you re-read everything. You dig through messages, flip through your notebook, reopen an old email. That time is invisible, and nobody pays for it. Preparing is a sign of respect for your client. Redoing the same sorting by hand every week is not.

## What AI can do for you, and what it must never touch

An AI prep assistant is a tool that reads what you give it and hands it back in order. It doesn't know your client. It can't feel the room. It sorts.

- Summarise the written exchanges since the last session.
- Spot the words that keep coming back (“exhausted”, “not good enough”, “scared to disappoint”).
- List the commitments your client made and the ones still open.
- Suggest two or three possible ways in, which you keep or throw away.

What stays with you: the opening question, the choice of exercise, the way you say things. That is your practice. A coach's voice gets lost when AI writes the sentences the coach speaks. It stays intact when AI prepares the ground and the coach chooses the words.

## A simple prep method that sounds like you

**One place per client.** Everything together: what she wrote to you, your impressions after each session, her goals from day one.

**One instruction, written once.** “Sort what has moved, what is resisting, the words she repeats. Never suggest a sentence for me to say.” You reuse it for every client.

**Read, cross out, add.** The summary is only a draft. Strike what rings false, add what you sensed and no text says. That is often where your best question comes from.

**Write your opening question yourself.** Just one, in your own words. It is your signature.

## What about confidentiality?

Remove surnames, workplaces and any detail that identifies the person. Pick a tool set up in your own space, where you know where the data goes. Tell your clients, in your agreement or at onboarding, how you prepare. Transparency builds trust.

Preparing with AI doesn't mean preparing less seriously. It means spending your energy on listening, not on searching through files. ## Frequently asked questions

**Can I use AI to prepare a coaching session?**

Yes, as long as you hand it the sorting and not the relationship. AI can summarise written exchanges, spot recurring words and list open commitments. The opening question, the choice of exercise and the way you say things stay with you, the coach.

**How do I keep my own voice as a coach when using AI?**

Never ask it for the sentences you will say. Write one instruction that forbids suggested wording, treat the summary as a rough draft, cross out what rings false and write your opening question yourself. The AI sorts; you do the talking.

**Is preparing sessions with AI safe for client confidentiality?**

It can be, with clear rules. Remove names, workplaces and identifying details, choose a tool where you know where the data is stored, and explain your method to clients in your agreement or at onboarding. Being open about it builds trust rather than eroding it.
