# Leadership coach: sell your program before you build it
*Reading time : 4 min · Offer & Positioning · 2026-10-02*
**In short :** Des semaines à construire un programme que personne n'achète ? Un coach en leadership peut le prévendre avec une promesse, une date et quelques conversations.

## How this article unfolds

1. A promise and a date — You announce a precise change and a real start, with no content produced.
2. One-to-one conversations — You write to people concerned and offer a place if it resonates.
3. A paid commitment — A deposit or payment is the only true validation, refundable if cancelled.
4. Content every week — Each next session is built from what comes back from the group.

A leadership coach can sell a program before writing it. All it takes is a precise promise, a start date and conversations with the right people. A paid commitment is the only reliable validation; the content is then built with the first participants, week by week.

## Why building first stalls your launch

A pre-sale is the sale of a program whose content does not exist yet, based on a precise change and a start date. Nothing else is promised: no filmed modules, no platform, no workbook.

Building before selling feels safe: while you produce, you are working, and nobody can say no. You spend weeks on an eight-stage program, announce it, and discover people wanted something else, or differently, or not now. In leadership coaching the risk is greater because situations vary so much: a new role, a team conflict, a return after leave, a step into senior leadership. A program built alone at your desk rarely lands on the exact situation of people ready to pay.

**A leadership coach who has never heard how much does it cost still knows nothing about the market, even after weeks of work.**

## How to pre-sell a women's leadership program

- **Write the promise, not the program.** One sentence from the participant's view: where she is, where she will be, how long it takes. For example: you now lead former peers; in eight weeks you set your authority without losing the relationship.
- **Set a date and a few places.** A real start date turns interest into a decision. Few places let you support this first group closely.
- **Talk to people, not an audience.** List those who match the situation or know someone who does. Write to them one by one, share the promise and offer a place if it resonates.
- **Ask for a commitment.** A deposit or full payment, with a clear refund if the group does not fill. Compliments and I will let you know are not answers.

## What do you deliver when the content does not exist?

You deliver as you go. You already know the path; only the materials are missing, and participants will show you which ones help. Before starting, prepare the outline: the main stages and the central question of each session. Each week, build the next session from what happened in the last one. Real difficulties become exercises; real questions become content. At the end you have a tested program, adjusted to real situations, plus testimonials for the next round.

## And if nobody buys?

That is good news, at the moment it costs the least. Read the replies: not now means the date or length is off; interesting but not for me means the situation is wrong; lots of questions and no purchase means the promise is unclear. Change one element at a time and try again with new people.

## Frequently asked questions

**How do I validate a coaching offer before creating it?**

A leadership coach validates an offer by pre-selling it: a precise promise, a start date, a few places, then one-to-one conversations with people in that situation. Only a paid commitment, a deposit or full payment, truly validates the offer.

**Can I sell a coaching program that does not exist yet?**

Yes, if you sell a change and a date rather than materials. You already know the path; content is prepared week by week with the first group. Offer a clear refund if the group does not fill.

**What if nobody buys my coaching pre-sale?**

Read the replies. Not now means the date or length is off. Not for me means the situation is poorly chosen. Many questions with no purchase means the promise is unclear. Change one element at a time and try again.

**How many places for a first women's leadership program?**

A few places are enough for a first group. A small number allows close support, weekly adjustments and strong testimonials for the next round. Limited places also help people decide.
