# Life coach: name your method so people remember it
*Reading time : 6 min · Offer & Positioning · 2026-05-14*
**In short :** Coach de vie, tes clientes parlent de « tes séances » sans savoir les décrire ? Donne un nom et des étapes à ta méthode : on la retient et on la recommande.

## How this article unfolds

1. Observe your sessions — Spot how you start, the turning point and how you close.
2. Name each step — Three to five steps, one concrete word each, easy for clients to repeat.
3. Name the whole path — A simple name that sums up the result, tested out loud with clients.
4. Climb step by step — In sessions the client sees herself move up a level and talks about it.

A life coach makes her work memorable by giving it a simple name and three to five named steps that describe the client's journey. That name turns a series of sessions into a method people understand, remember and can explain to a friend. That is how your work starts to travel by word of mouth.

## Why life coaching sessions is not enough

A named method describes your coaching as a step-by-step path, with a name that sums up the transformation. It does not change what you do in sessions. It changes how people understand it.

When a happy client can only say she sees a coach and it is great, her friend gets no picture. She has no idea what happens in a session or whether it could help her, so the recommendation stops there. When your client can say they first sorted out what was draining her, then chose what to keep, and now she is building a new routine, her friend can see herself in it and asks for your name.

## How to spot the steps of your life coaching method

You do not need to invent anything. Your method already exists in your sessions; you only need to make it visible. Look back at your first clients and ask:

- **What do you always start with?** Often a review of what no longer works and where her energy goes.
- **What is the turning point?** The moment she decides, chooses or dares something new.
- **How do you finish?** An anchor, a routine, a plan to continue alone.

Keep three to five steps in total and give each one a short, concrete name: Sort, Choose, Dare, Anchor. Avoid training jargon. Your client should be able to repeat the words naturally, without sounding like she is reading a brochure.

## Finding the name

The name can describe the result, be built from the steps, or use an image your clients already use, such as a compass, a passage or a clearing. Say it out loud and test it with two or three clients. If they need an explanation, look for something simpler. A good method name works without instructions.

## Where to use your named method

On your offer page, each step becomes a section: what happens, what she feels, what she gains. In the discovery call, you show people where they stand on the path and what comes next. In your content, each step gives you months of topics. In sessions, you name the current step so the client sees her progress, commits more and has precise words to share with others. A named method also supports selling a full programme instead of single hours: you are no longer selling an hour, you are selling a whole path.

A name never replaces results. A beautifully named method that feels vague in sessions disappoints quickly, so observe what genuinely works first, then name it. If you want help putting words on your method and placing it at the heart of your offer, book a call.
## Frequently asked questions

**Why should a life coach name their coaching method?**

A named method gives clients words to describe their coaching. They know where they are, see their progress and can explain it to friends. A named method spreads by word of mouth far better than a vague mention of coaching sessions.

**How many steps should a coaching framework have?**

Three to five steps. Beyond that, nobody remembers them. Give each step a short, concrete name, ideally a verb, that a client can repeat naturally without sounding rehearsed.

**How do I find a name for my signature coaching method?**

Name the result, build a name from the steps, or borrow an image your clients already use. Then test it out loud with a few clients. If it needs explaining, keep looking for something simpler.
